FIRST ESSAY :-(

Not feeling that well about my first essay grade, so I guess I have some work to do!
I'm not to sure how I got 10.5/15 on the draft and a C on the final, but nontheless, I will work harder on the redo. I just hope that it's worth it, I'm just not happy with my grade, I can do better, and I will do better!

U cannot turn an animal into a house pet!

A lady in C.T. raised a chimp since he was a few weeks old and he turned on her friend who he's known for years and nearly killed her. When will people learn that they cannot trust animals? This women took in the chimp when her husband and daughter died she brought this baby chimp into her home and made him her family, cooking for him, allowing him to sleep with her. Now the darn animal had to be yougthinized and she may loose her friend too.

Movie Time!

hhhhmmmm! Well, it's hard to just pick one. So, I'll pick the one that gives me the warm fuzzy feeling of having movie night as a young child. My dad would go to the local video store and spent time finding something that was suitable for the whole family to watch, or him to fall asleep watching as my brother sister and I watched, eyes glued to the T.V. drumroll, please....The Parent Trap, the original with Haley Mills. Yeah, I know it's probably corny, but I love it! The spunk of those twins; after finding out in that way, that somewhere out there was a twin out there and their parents not telling them, deciding to switch identities! I think I'd be scard to do that. But over all I think it would be my all time favorite.

ALL those damn kids!

Last night I watched the first 20 min of the interview of the women that just gave birth to octuplets.......OK, what is wrong with HER, her DOCTOR and STAFF?
First, when they showed her pictures of when she was young, it didn't even resemble her, she has had a nose job and lip injections, and that's just what my untrained eye can pick up on. So she already have some underlining issues. Secondly, what doctor in his right min would keep on fertilizing a women 7 times without stopping to make sure she has a psych evaluation? And lastly some of the staff saw something that they knew was wrong. And we all in the medical field have a responsibility to our patients to do the right thing.

Party Animal vs. Nurse

At work today the nurses are talking about how you cannot successfully have the best of both worlds. One nurse went out last night and came into work late today, now she's sitting unusually quiet in the corner, trying to stay awake and be pleasant to her patient's family. Thank goodness we're in the ICU and we don't really have to be that pleasant to our unconscious patients.
But what's the chances that someone wants to go out on the night that your off the next day? Slim to none, so you end up going out the night before you have to work, then paying for it the next day. Its a hard career because you always feel like your working, or that no one wants to ask you to go out because they think you have to work.......

OHIO

As I'm watching the news, I can't help but to think why these fisherman were out there on the ice without checking the weather report to see that it would be warming up and the winds would be too strong! Who was in charge? They really put a lot of peoples lives in jeopardy unnecessarily. And it ended up taking the life of one of them, so far. The news caster even reported that "they had no business out there." If I were one of thoses fisherman I would have definently checked the weather report myself, infact each day prior to going out, never relying on someone else when its a life or death decision!

Identity

At work the other day, we had a patient expire, and his family was not there with him as he went... I was later instructed to document his personal belongings, so the nurse and I went through and documented: a pair of pants, a shirt, a watch, and a wallet aaah, there was the key he had a wallet and since I had not seen any family visit, I wondered what the contents of his wallet would tell me about the identity of this man whose now souless body lays here in front of me..
There was a old newspaper clipping of an article about how toothpaste can be used to soothe insect bites and a couple of old school photos of a female. No identification cards or any other clues..... That's why I based my essay on the effect of cultural markers on shaping ones identity.
